The Need
Carter Holt Harvey Packaging developed DeforTM to meet the demand from growers and retailers of premium quality produce for a superior, cost-effective freight alternative to returnable plastic containers (RPCs).

The Solution
DeforTM is a revolution in produce packaging. The DeforTM system is the first to include interlocking, stacking modular corrugated boxes designed specifically for produce.

DeforTM's advanced corrugated board structure is thinner yet stronger, providing efficient cooling and lower freight costs. DeforTM has been proven to protect produce during long-term, high humidity storage without excessive bulging or sagging. DeforTM's patented tab and slot design locks boxes together, for enhanced pallet stability.

Delivered flat to field or packhouse, the DeforTM box can be machine or hand erected. The DeforTM system includes a custom-made erector which is mobile and easy to operate. Boxes can be assembled at the rate of 16 to 26 per minute.

DeforTM boxes take produce from the packhouse to the supermarket shelf, with a minimum of handling. The smooth sides of the DeforTM box allow for four-colour printing both inside and out, providing a superior branding option and an attractive, display-ready box for the retailer.
