A Boneless Beef Case that Remains Flat After Freezing

The Need
It has been evident in the Meat Industry that a case that remains flat after freezing was a prime requirement, especially for safety in freezer storage through improved stackability of the frozen product.

The process involved with bulk packing meat products often results in 'overfilling' - which further hinders stackability. A packaging system needed to be developed to address this.

The Solution
Carter Holt Harvey's innovative TSM™ case is manufactured in corrugated or solid fibre board. The TSM™ system also comprises a Machine Case Erector, a Meat Press/Compactor and a Hot Melt TSM™ Closer.

The case is a unique design, incorporating webs in the base and lid. These work to eliminate case racking and, in the lid, build up on the corners contributing to pack stability.

The Meat Press/Compactor was introduced to compensate for overfill. The Press creates a concave impression which, when the product is frozen, means a smooth pack surface will be achieved.

The TSM™ case can be stacked up to 4 full pallets high without the need for specialised racking.

On a cost/performance ratio, TSM™ is the best option for boneless, frozen meat packaging currently available.
